Meet Ellie

When thinking of naming this wee biz, I was hanging out with the bff and she suggested thinking of a name that is close to home, in Te Reo. I'm personally on my own journey to understanding and learning  my whakapapa, and learning more of  Te Ao Maori.

Ko Rereahu, Nga Puhi te iwi.

So I looked back, and remembered a time when I was at my nana's tangi. I didn't know what they were saying, or signing, but i felt it, and so I started singing Twinkle, twinkle, little star in english. The whanau stopped, smiled and laughed and started singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star in both English and Te Reo.

Ka kite i te atua, pēnā tonu me te whetū e kohiko mai ana i te rangi

She saw the atua and it was just like a star twinkling in the sky

Kohiko: to flash, twinkle.
